Prairie Express

Prairie Express is a fixed route bus service in Sterling, Colorado. The service is operated by the Northeastern Colorado Association of Local Governments (NECALG) for the South Platte Valley Regional Transit Authority (SPVRTA).

This service provides fixed route access to the major employers, medical facilities, retail centers, educational institutions, and more. Please check the routes and schedules of the service for times and locations of all stops.

Purchase a Ticket

Fares:

  • General Public - $1.00

  • Seniors (65 years + age) $0.50

  • Persons with Disabilities $0.50

  • Veterans $0.50

 

Note: Senior Citizens and those with disabilities fares are 50% off .

Passes:

  • Unlimited Monthly Pass $20.00 per CALENDAR month. Passes go on sale the last day of every month.

  • Punch Cards may be purchased during business hours at the Prairie Express/County Express office at 1619 S. 6th Ave. Sterling, CO 80751. $10.00 for 10 rides.

How To Ride

  • Select your stops. The map shows the route where stops are located.

  • Check the time schedule.

  • Wait at the designated bus stop. The bus stops are clearly marked.

  • Board the bus after other passengers have exited. If you have difficulty boarding, ask the bus driver for assistance.

    • Drivers do not carry cash and cannot make change. Please have the exact fare ready when boarding.

  • Signal to exit the bus. Please advise the driver of your destination. Please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.

General Information

A pleasant riding experience for all of our patrons is what we strive for. We respectfully

request that you follow these etiquette guidelines to help achieve that goal:

  • Be ready for your ride and at your designated bus stop early

  • Pets are not allowed unless they are service animals. Please refer to our service animal policy found under ADA Policy Statement

  • No eating or drinking allowed

  • No use of tobacco products allowed, including chew or vaping

  • No obscene or foul language

  • Personal radios/CD players must be turned off or used with headphones

  • Children must be removed from strollers before boarding

  • Seat belts are provided for your safety and are required when available

  • Please respect priority seating areas for seniors and persons with disabilities

  • Please report suspicious objects or behavior to the driver

  • Please ask the drivers if you have any questions. We are here to serve you and are always happy to help!

  • Drivers may not leave the vehicle to assist riders with the exception of boarding or unloading from the bus
